Roof gravel, a bold red look, and suddenly — a dragon

Nina Ninanovicy kicks things off on the flat roof with an extreme close-up—starting at knee-high—before shifting straight into club mode: a bright red romper, studded boots, sunglasses, Russian pop music, hip-swaying, and hair-flipping amidst the ventilation units. The color grading goes so wild at times that the gravel briefly takes on a disco-purple hue.

Then, a split-screen reveals a dark-haired doppelgänger; mid-spin, the dress shifts from red to orange—as if the wardrobe itself had made the cut. The highlight: she jumps and hangs suspended in slow motion… while, completely unannounced, a green CGI dragon flies across the frame behind her. No explanation. No disclaimer. Just: Welcome to this rooftop.

She makes her exit amidst a faux-twilight glow, blowing a kiss and waving, followed by the samy.media outro: “Entertainment for your needs.” Spot on—unexpected flying reptile cameo included.

Modern Prep Takeover:

Tommy Hilfiger Reimagines American Classics at the Plaza Hotel

Tommy Hilfiger made a spectacular return to New York Fashion Week, kicking off the Spring/Summer 2027 showcase by transforming Manhattan’s iconic Plaza Hotel. The designer introduced a youthful twist on tradition under the banner “Prep Made Current,” featuring oversized polo shirts and plaid bucket hats aimed directly at Gen Z.

The 75-year-old designer explained his vision of modernizing heritage without losing the brand’s identity, stating that the collection offers a fresh aesthetic while remaining unmistakably Tommy Hilfiger. Bold reds and deep navy blues dominated the runway alongside classic plaid patterns. The grand hotel lobby came alive with comfortable seating arrangements and dynamic live music, featuring violin interpretations of hip-hop tracks and a performance by singer Slayyyter. High-profile guests, including fashion icon Kate Moss and major stars from the sports and music industries, lined the front row.

This presentation represents a strategic shift rather than mere nostalgia. Hilfiger is redefining preppy style as a contemporary everyday wardrobe choice, utilizing generous silhouettes, athletic accessories, and a vibrant color palette designed to succeed both on Instagram feeds and in flagship retail locations. The collection demonstrates that classic American style can be completely relaxed when tailored with updated cuts and proportions.

New York Fashion Week continues through September 15 with a lineup of around 70 shows. Hilfiger’s presentation followed major collections from Ralph Lauren, Coach, and Diane von Furstenberg, firmly establishing the revitalized, oversized preppy aesthetic as a central theme of the season. While other fashion houses contrasted this look with opulent materials and intense colors, Hilfiger focused on his signature, recognizable design language.

The upcoming retail seasons will determine the commercial success of this revival. However, on the runway, the vibrant energy of this modernized heritage style was undeniable.
