Does NiNA Loves Dragons?

Every city has a landmark that makes visitors smile, and one of Varna’s most charming attractions is the famous “Dragons in Love” sculpture in the Sea Garden. Featuring two dragons gently holding the legendary Egg of Knowledge, the several-meter-high artwork has become a favorite stop for visitors exploring the park.

Dressed for a sunny day in a black summer top, nude-colored shiny leggings, and sky-high summer dance heels, Nina happily walked toward the sculpture with a camera in one hand and a bright smile on her face. Looking up at the impressive dragons, she laughed, “So… which one of you is in charge of guarding the egg?” The dragons, of course, remained proudly focused on protecting their colorful treasure.

Created by sculptor Lazarov and installed in 2010, the Dragons in Love sculpture was designed to bring joy to visitors, especially children visiting the nearby water training pool. Over the years, it has become one of the Sea Garden’s most recognizable landmarks and a popular place for families and tourists to take photos.

Nearby, a drinking fountain supplied by a natural mineral spring offered a refreshing place to pause. Nina took a moment to wash her hands with the cool spring water before returning for another cheerful photo beside the sculpture.

Like many public artworks, the monument has inspired different opinions over the years. While many people appreciate it as a playful fantasy sculpture, it has also sparked discussion because of its symbolic design. Despite the differing viewpoints, it remains one of Varna’s most distinctive attractions and continues to welcome visitors every day.

As she continued exploring the Sea Garden, Nina looked back at the towering dragons one last time. She left with wonderful memories, beautiful photos, and another reminder that travel is often about discovering places that blend art, history, imagination, and local character. Sometimes the most unforgettable adventures begin with nothing more than a walk through the park and a friendly meeting with two legendary dragons.
